We built a dream together

that spanned eternity

a fantasy borne of love

and a time we both were free.

Our footprints side by side

throughout eternity

sharing life together

but is it only fantasy?

 The miles that are  between us

the difference in our stride

our footprints in different directions

then no longer side by side?

Yes we built our dreams together

on love that we have found

the trust we build, the faith we have

but still we are both too proud.

Now see the footprints no longer

side by side,

 footprints left by each of us

on the others heart.

Be gentle with the one who

shares your dream,

the one whose love you need.

step softly through your fantasy

be sure things are as they  seem.

And when your journeys over

this life on earth is done

the footprints you leave behind

will  be those of gentleness,

made with love, side by side.
