As
Mother Earth prepares to go into her
period of rest, preparing for Her
rebirth in the Spring, She showers us
with beauty and the bounty She created
during Her fertile season.

We
gaze in awe at the kaleidoscope of
beautiful leaves as they float gently to
the earth, and watch the busy gray
squirrels as they rush around gathering
hickory nuts for their winter
larder.

The
tiny hummingbirds no longer flit around
the bright red syrup we have prepared
for them since early spring, and we hear
the coarse honk of the Canadian geese,
as they head South on their well known,
but uncharted journey.

We
gather the apples, the pumpkins, all the
late baring food and we too, stock our
larder. The smell of fresh baked pies
fill the air as they cool before being
wrapped and stored in the freezer. The
people who farm their land, till
the soil, feed it, so as it rests, it
too will be nourished and ready for a
new growing season.

And
we give Thanks.
We
give thanks for the beauty that
surrounds us, for the food we have to
nourish our body's and feed our
families, for the fresh clean air we
have to breathe and the love of those we
call family and friends.

And
we Share.
Love
shared with someone who feels they are
NOT loved, is the most rewarding love.
Friendship
offered and shared with someone who
feels they have no friends, is
friendship to be cherished.
Food
prepared and shared with someone who
otherwise would be alone, creates a meal
that not only feeds the body but creates
memories that last a lifetime.

So
at this beautiful season of Mother
Earth's continuing cycle, let us marvel
at the beauty that surrounds us, reap
the harvest and prepare for the cold we
know is coming, but most important, let
us share, let us give thanks for what we
are blessed with, and let us remember to
always love, so that we too, can be
loved.
