We have all been there,

to this valley.

We reach out to touch someone

our fingers find only empty air.

We try to smile, put a twinkle in our eye,

but rivers of tears wash down our

cheeks, and when we  look up,

we see only a blackened sky.

We thought we had love, would never part,

our soul mate, who made us complete

as we dreamed we would be,

then suddenly,

rather than love, it's a broken heart.

If we sit quietly, wait, be patient we will

feel the whisper of an angels wing

as she gently dries the flowing tears.

Hear the laughter of tiny faeries

or see the glory  of Pegasus' wings.

Sit quietly, let the elusive Unicorn

lay beside you, look into his gentle eyes,

see the promise of tomorrow,

new beginnings, in cloudless skies.

Yes, we all go there, to the depths of despair,

our personal "Valley Of Longing".

We weep, we grieve for what might have been,

but I  believe;

 in rainbows, in faeries,

unicorns , and a God, who is everywhere.
